Canadian precision component manufacturer looking for growth in Europe

Canadian manufacturer Little Lakes Machine & Tool Co. is looking to connect with hydrogen fuel cell manufacturers, suppliers or related industries, as it expands its reach into Europe.

Since 1960, the Ontario-based, ISO 2001:2015 certified company has been supporting customers from industries as diverse as automotive, aerospace, nuclear and alternative energy with high precision finished parts and tools, especially powder metal punches and dies.

“All have come to rely on Little Lakes for our integrated array of manufacturing processes,” Michael Eckardt, President of Little Lakes Machine & Tool Co. told H2 View.

“From wire and sink EDM to hard turning, hard milling and precision form grinding, Little Lakes controls all aspects of the manufacturing process to ensure projects are delivered on-spec, on-time and on-budget.”

“In addition, our know-how to manufacture ‘one off’ tools or prototypes, as well as small productions runs allows Little Lakes to support our customers’ product development process in the early stages of creation for a smoother launch.”

Offering “good old-fashioned” service with a “customer centric” approach to business, Little Lakes’ involvement in the hydrogen space started a decade ago when the company began to produce powder metal tooling for high volume production of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) ceramic electrolytes.

“By manufacturing both new sets of punches and re-facing worn punches, Little Lakes is able to keep our customers’ production running economically without sacrificing quality of the finished product,” Eckardt highlighted.

“Since then, we have become a main supplier in North America for the production and qualification of these tools.”
