Caribbean instead of Tokyo: Energy Observer adapts to coronavirus crisis

In light of the current global coronavirus crisis, Energy Observer has made significant changes to its 2020 programme and will no longer travel to Tokyo.

Instead, the reconditioned former 30.5 metre legendary racing catamaran plans to head for the West Indies where she will remain in confinement and be secured.

The team behind Energy Observer hope to refocus the odyssey on the Caribbean arc emphasising on the protection of biodiversity and then sail to California, if possible, to visit San Francisco and Los Angeles as planned – two cities that are particularly active in the challenges of innovation and the energy transition.
