China could install 100GW of renewable hydrogen capacity by 2030, report predicts

A report by RMI has said that industries and regions in China have the potential to install 100GW of renewable hydrogen capacity by 2030 in a milestone step to meeting the nation’s carbon neutrality target by 2060.

The China’s Green Hydrogen New Era: A 2030 Renewable Hydrogen 100GW Roadmap report found that under the country’s policy targets to meet Net Zero by 2060, hydrogen, in particular green hydrogen is one of the most significant solutions in driving the energy transition across heavy industry and heavy-duty transport sectors.

According to RMI, the report details analysis of the current Chinese hydrogen industry development status, building on China’s Hydrogen Roadmap, released in March this year (2022), which targeted 200,000 tonnes of green hydrogen production annually by 2025.
