Clean hydrogen investment stalls on offtake uncertainty, gasworld summit hears

Investors are looking at hydrogen projects the same way they look at oil and gas projects and offtake remains key, H2 View’s Make Hydrogen Happen Panel at gasworld’s North American Hydrogen Summit has heard.

Aline Ingram, Senior Consultant – Hydrogen and Clean Fuels, Poten & Partners, told the event in New Jersey, US, that hydrogen and derivative offtake is the main challenge facing under-development projects.

Despite seeing growing use cases for hydrogen, ammonia and methanol, Ingram said, “There is no market today for these products, and therefore there is no pricing.”
