Consortium to explore green hydrogen exports from Abu Dhabi to Port of Amsterdam

Renewable energy developer Masdar, the Port of Amsterdam, SkyNRG, Evos Amsterdam, and Zenith Energy have signed an agreement to explore developing a green hydrogen supply chain between Abu Dhabi and Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the parties plan to focus on developing green hydrogen production in Abu Dhabi and export to the Netherlands through the Port of Amsterdam.

H2 View understands the companies intend to explore several hydrogen transportation methods, with key focuses on liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) and liquid hydrogen.

The exported green hydrogen is planned to be delivered to key European sectors including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), steelmaking, and bunkering for shipping, in addition to plans to supply to emerging European offtakers via pipelines, trucks, and barges.
