Duke Energy plans green hydrogen production, storage and combustion system

Duke Energy has revealed plans to break ground on a green hydrogen production, storage and combustion system in Florida, US.

The end-to-end system will utilise an existing 74.5MW solar plant to power two 1MW electrolyser units to produce hydrogen which will be stored on site for its use in a combustion turbine during periods of high energy demand.

GE Vernova will be upgrading the combustion turbine to run on a natural gas-hydrogen blend or up to 100% hydrogen.
