Europe playing ‘catch up to Asia’ in HRS deployment

Europe is falling behind Asia in operational hydrogen refuelling stations by around 42%, according to the Hydrogen Council.

The Hydrogen Insight 2023 report by the Hydrogen Council and McKinsey & Company has highlighted that Asia is the leading developer of hydrogen stations globally with over 650, while Europe and the Middle East accounts for 276.

However, the report states that worldwide, the deployment of hydrogen stations has grown by more than 50% from the end of 2021 to 2022. The largest markets are China, South Korea and Japan.
