Exclusive: Bosch’s UK Managing Director on powering the hydrogen economy

Despite being best known by the public for home appliances, power tools, boilers, industrial applications, and its automotive solutions, Bosch is laying the groundwork to establish itself as a key player in the hydrogen economy.

Telling H2 View that Bosch is, “committed to making hydrogen an everyday fuel across Europe and in other regions of the world,” Vonjy Rajakoba, Managing Director of Bosch UK, explained that the engineering and technology company is pursuing numerous use-cases, which it believes could facilitate early adoption of the energy carrier.

“Hydrogen is starting to play an ever more important role in the decarbonisation debate and the pathway to Net Zero. Policymakers and consumers are beginning to see the positive impact that hydrogen can have on the environment and our day-to-day lives,” said Rajakoba.

With that ethos, Bosch is focusing on developing an array of key technologies, from fuel cells that will power vans and trucks, to hydrogen-ready boilers to heat homes, and hydrogen-powered mini power stations able to provide energy to facilities such as data centres.
