Extended partnership looks to lower the cost of green hydrogen production

An extended research agreement between NewHydrogen, a BioSolar company, and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) is working to reduce the cost of green hydrogen production.

Confirming the news today (2nd March), the companies said the expanded research will focus on significantly reducing or replacing the hydrogen catalyst, platinum.

A complete and fully optimised electrolyser device will also be developed to incorporate all the innovations from the research programme. The fully functional hydrogen-producing electrolyser will serve as a reference prototype to help manufacturers worldwide produce low-cost green hydrogen.

Commenting on the extended collaboration, Dr. David Lee, CEO of BioSolar, said, “We are very pleased to broaden our clean energy research program at UCLA with Dr. Huang and her team, a group whose collaboration we have a high level of confidence in.”
