‘First-of-its-kind’ hydrogen harbour craft to be developed in California

A first-of-its-kind hydrogen-powered harbour craft is to be developed in California, following a $2m grant awarded by the California Energy Commission (CEC).

Zero Emission Industries™ (ZEI), formerly Golden Gate Zero Emission Marine™, which will design, build and test the small-fast harbour craft, confirmed the news today (27th April).

With the newly announced $2m funds from by the CEC, ZEI has now been awarded over $5m in grants to bring its hydrogen technology innovations and ideas to life.

The harbour craft powertrain will consist of a state-of-the-art hydrogen storage system, fuel cell package, power system, safety system, control and automation system allowing for a powertrain with increased range, simple maintenance, and no emissions.
