Freudenberg and Quantron cooperate on fuel cell truck project

Technology specialist Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has today announced a partnership with German vehicle manufacturer Quantron AG to deploy its new fuel cell system in heavy-duty trucks.

Supported by the Energy Research Programme of the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy in Germany, the project hopes to make emission-free economically viable heavy-duty transportation a reality.

In the last year, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies has launched successful development projects for buses and cruise ships, however, the partnership announced today marks the start of a new business venture into heavy-duty transportation.

“Fuel cell trucks are the only economical, emission-free alternative that permits large payloads as well as significant ranges and fast refuelling cycles,” said Dr. Manfred Stefener, Vice-President of Fuel Cell Systems at Freudenberg Sealing Technologies.
