Future Proof Shipping joins European Flagships project to deploy hydrogen vessels

New hydrogen vessels are set to soon hit European waters, with Future Proof Shipping (FPS) today (Feb 8) confirming that it has joined the Flagships project as it looks to deploy its zero-emissions inland container vessels.

Part funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, previously the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, Flagships wants to take zero-emission waterborne transport to an entirely new level by deploying two commercially operated hydrogen fuel cell vessels by 2023.

Having now added FPS’ Waal hydrogen-fuelled vessel to the project, which should be sailing on green hydrogen next summer (2023), Flagships is now so much closer to achieving its previously laid out goal.
