With the G7 Summit being held in Hiroshima, Japan, this weekend (May 19-21), H2 View has been diving deeper into the hydrogen-related activities of each country.
Japan, France, Germany, Italy, the UK, Canada and the US have participated in multiple Ministerial meetings this year, with hydrogen growing in prominence as economies seek to accelerate decarbonisation and meet Net Zero goals.
So far this year, the industry has announced more than 1,000 large-scale hydrogen project proposals worldwide according to the Hydrogen Insight 2023 report by the Hydrogen Council and McKinsey & Company. The report found that the number of projects reaching final investment decision (FID) had grown by 30% between May 2022 and January 2023, with Europe having total investments of $7bn and 117 announced proposals sine January.
