General Motors to develop hydrogen fuel cell for Komatsu mining truck

General Motors (GM) have announced they will develop a hydrogen fuel cell module for a Komatsu mining truck.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology leader GM will jointly design and validate the fuel cell technology for the Komatsu 930E electric drive mining truck.

The two companies intend to test the first prototype HYDROTEC-POWERED mining vehicle in the mid-2020s at Komatsu’s Arizona Proving Grounds research and development facility, expected to be powered by over 2MW of HYDROTEC power cubes.
