Government funding to support AFC Energy’s ammonia cracker technology development

AFC Energy has been awarded £676,500 ($862,229) from the UK Government to support its ammonia cracker reactor technology.

The grant comes under the UK Government’s Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition round four (CMDC4), funded by the UK Department for Transport (DfT) and delivered by Innovate UK.

The award will support the design and integration of ammonia cracker reactor technology with marine purposed, ammonia fuelled internal combustion engines (ICE). If successful, AFC will target worldwide application across maritime vessels seeking to adopt ammonia combustion as its alternative fuel.
