Green Hydrogen Systems and Bilfinger to explore hydrogen projects under new partnership

Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS) has partnered with Bilfinger to develop hydrogen project concepts ranging from 50 to 100MW.

Bilfinger will combine its expertise in engineering, maintenance, modifications and operations with GHS’ standardised and modular pressured alkaline electrolyser technologies.

The two companies will now map the technical and commercial interfaces, to “pave the way for industrial-scale implementation of power-to-X projects.”

H2 View understands the partnership is non-exclusive and will allow both parties to replicate similar collaboration agreements with other entities to support innovation.

Søren Rydbirk, Chief Commercial Officer at GHS, explained that the partnership will “unlock the full potential of green hydrogen by realising scale and optimisation through standardisation and simplification of project development.”

GHS’ 6MW X-Series alkaline electrolyser prototype is expected to be the company’s “main revenue driver from 2025 onwards,” according to CEO Peter Friis.

The prototype reached technical proof of concept earlier this month (March 2024), ahead of potential deliveries at the end of the year. It was installed and tested on-site at GreenLab as part of the EU Horizon-based GreenHyScale project in Denmark.

Earlier this year, GHS upgraded its revenue guidance for 2024 after it signed an order for 8.1MW of electrolyser capacity.
