Honda to stop production of its Clarity Fuel Cell; confirms to H2 View FCEVs will play a ‘key role’ in zero emissions strategy

Honda will stop production of its Clarity Fuel Cell and Clarity Plugin Hybrid models this August (2021), but says it wants 100% of its vehicle sales to be fuel cell electric or battery electric by 2040.

The vehicle manufacturer confirmed this to H2 View today (June 16), in response to a comment request, and said its commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 still remains in place.

“We are evolving our strategy with a focus on increased application of our two-motor hybrid system to core models in advance of the introduction of our first volume battery electric vehicle models in 2024,” Honda told H2 View.
