HVS appoints new Chairman of the Board to lead company strategy

Hydrogen Vehicle Systems (HVS) has announced the appointment of a new Chairman of the Board to support “Group Growth Plan and Globalisation Strategy.”

Professor, Dr Utz Claassen has joined the HVS Board after previous senior positions at Syntellix, EDF and Volkswagen, following a “successful” automotive carrer with Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG.

HVS CEO, Jawad Khursheed, claimed that Claassen will support the company with his direction to help achieve its Group Growth Plan and Globalisation Strategy.

Commenting on his appointment, Claassen said, “At the intersection between interdisciplinary and intercultural opportunities, HVS has a unique perspective to contribute towards both the evolution of drive technology as well as the disruption of old-school thinking with new open-minded solutions based on superior technology.”

HVS’ Managing Director, Ian Palmer, previously worked with Claassen in both his past roles at Ford and SEAT. “I can vouch for his ability to bring visionary strategic thinking to the table and importantly combine this with the rigour to see plans successfully implemented,” he said.

HVS has achieved multiple milestones over the past year and most recently signed an agreement with White Logistics to trial its hydrogen-powered vehicles in its fleet. Prior to this, Mannok also agreed to integrate HVS trucks into its fleet.

This came after the company announced significant progression on its test trials, successfully towing a trailer at the high-speed track at UTAC in Milbrook, UK.

Now moving forward into the next phases of truck development, John McLeister, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at HVS, told H2 View, “We will complete our test programme, move through the various phases of testing and work closely with Mannok and the rest of our customers to implement, what we called, our transition to zero programme.”
