Hycamite secures €10m loan to build methane pyrolysis demonstration facility

Hycamite TCD Technologies has secured a capital loan of up to €10m ($10.7m) to build a new demonstration facility for its methane pyrolysis technology for hydrogen and solid carbon production.

Secured with the Finnish Climate Fund, the loan is planned to finance the building of a new customer sample facility (CSF) which is intended to demonstrate the viability of its proprietary technology based on the thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCS) of methane molecules.

The technology enables the production of low-carbon or even carbon-negative hydrogen, according to the Finnish company. It says the methane pyrolysis technology requires only 13% of the energy needed to produce hydrogen using electrolysis.
