‘Hydrogen – a driver for the decarbonisation of power, heat, industry and transport’

In my recent column for H2 View I looked at hydrogen’s vast potential as a game-changer for global decarbonisation. I’d now like to explore the difference that hydrogen will make to important areas like heating, power, industry and transport, and how emerging hydrogen technologies might help solve some of the existential challenges that we face.

One thing is abundantly clear in relation to hydrogen – the pace of innovation is increasing and there are more and more solutions being developed that are progressing from research projects to global deployment.  With hydrogen’s development the solutions that the technology can potentially deliver get ever more interesting as new applications go mainstream and as a result open up additional industry sectors.

Indeed, if we develop and deploy the right technology to solve the challenges that we face we will build the public confidence in hydrogen that we need to make it one of the key sources of energy for our decarbonised future.

Let’s start with hydrogen for heat.
