Hydrogen combustion truck put to the test at 2023 Dakar Rally

Hydrogen combustion technologies for mobility were tested in toughest conditions during the 2023 Dakar Desert Rally.

With a point to prove, rather than running a pilot vehicle on a set route under standard conditions, Xavier Ribas, CEO of Evarm, based in Barcelona, Spain, put the company’s retrofitted hydrogen concept vehicle, the KH-7 Epsilon rally truck to the test.

Over 15 days in January (2023), the 800-horsepower vehicle, based on a MAN TGA 26.480 truck chassis, took on dunes and desert, covering 500-600km per day in the Challenge New Energy category.
