Southern California Gas (SoCalGas) will showcase hydrogen’s potential in the domestic heating sector in Downey, California, with its landmark H2 Hydrogen Home project that is now under assembly.
Believed to be a first of its kind project in the US, H2 Hydrogen Homes will see a nearly 2,000 square foot home equipped with an electrolyser to convert solar energy to hydrogen and a fuel cell to supply electricity.
Up to 20% hydrogen will also be blended with natural gas and used in the home’s tank-less water heater, clothes dryer, gas stove, fireplace and BBQ grill.
