Hydrogen-powered buses enter operation in Beijing

China Yuchai International Limited has announced 50 hydrogen-powered buses utilising Yuchai Xingshunda fuel cells have debuted in Beijing, China.

The 12m buses are powered by 30 units of 82kW and 20 125kW fuel cell systems, which can generate energy efficiencies higher than 43% and 45%, respectively, both with operating times of more than 15,000 hours.

Through its main operating subsidiary, Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Company, Yuchai Xingshunda is a 65% owned joint venture established in 2022 with Beijing Xing Shun Da Bus. It was designed for the development, manufacturing and sale of fuel cell powertrain systems.
