Hydrogen-ready power generation set to begin at Centrica’s Redditch plant

Centrica Business Solutions has completed work on its 20MW hydrogen-blend-ready gas-fired peaking plant in Worcestershire.

Located in Redditch, the UK, the plant is designed to support electricity demand at peak times, expected to be capable of powering the equivalent of 2,000 homes for a full day.

Formally a diesel fuelled power station, the Redditch plant will work in an adjacent stream to improve the local environment as part of the construction process. Now under final testing, the first generation is anticipated later this month (March 2024).
