Hydrogen UK Chief Executive issues stark warning about Energy Bill

Clare Jackson, Chief Executive of Hydrogen UK has warned that it’s “game over” for the UK’s leading role in hydrogen if the proposed Energy Bill does not pass with an appropriate funding mechanism.

The UK Energy Bill was first proposed in July last year (2022) detailing a hydrogen levy to fund “all revenue support for low-carbon hydrogen production,” however over the past year has been held up in numerous parliamentary readings, which Jackson explained could leave the UK hydrogen industry out in the cold.

“We really need MPs to understand the implications of leaving this industry without a funding mechanism, which is essentially that we won’t have the hydrogen to deliver energy security,” Jackson said to H2 View.
