Hydrogen-powered top-pick container handler trials at the Port of Los Angeles

Materials-handling equipment specialist, Hyster has announced it is testing a hydrogen fuel cell-powered top-pick container handler in the Port of Los Angeles, California, US.

Fitted with two 45kW Nuvera fuel cells, Hyster says it H1050-1150XD-CH container handler can be refuelled in approximately 15 minutes, providing between eight and 10 hours of continuous run time, while producing no carbon emission.

H2 View understands Hyster received a grant from California Climate Investments, awarded by the California Air Resources Board in 2018 to help support the development of the hydrogen-powered container handler.
