HyEng Corporation established to decarbonise shipping in Japan

Three Japanese heavyweights have joined forces to establish a new joint venture focused on the development of hydrogen-fuelled engines for the marine industry.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Yanmar Power Technology and Japan Engine Corporation today (August 4) unveiled the launch of HyEng Corporation as they strive to collectively decarbonise shipping.

In addition to focusing on the engines themselves, the joint venture will look to advance international standards and rules for hydrogen fuel supply systems and integrate such systems.
