Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell added to Gebrüder Weiss’ vehicle fleet

Transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss has added a hydrogen-powered Hyundai XCIENT Fuel Cell model to its fleet.

Delivered to the company’s Altenrhein branch in Switzerland on 25th January (2021), the Hyundai model runs on green hydrogen and can save around 80 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

“The coronavirus pandemic has diverted attention away somewhat from the climate change challenge, yet the logistics sector is continuing its work with manufacturers to find alternative ways of powering vehicles,” said Wolfram Senger-Weiss, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss.

“With our first hydrogen truck’s arrival, Gebrüder Weiss has once again demonstrated that it also takes a leading role when it comes to sustainable solutions. Our aim is to gain experience using this technology to help us prepare for a situation where it may see wider use.”
