IHI Corporation looks to ammonia: ACME off-take contract and carrier vessel plans

Japanese multinational IHI Corporation has signed a term sheet to import up to 400,000 tonnes of green ammonia from India’s ACME Group and agreed separate contracts for the construction of an ammonia-fuelled ammonia carrier vessel.

Under the term sheet agreement with ACME, IHI is considering off-taking the green hydrogen carrier produced in Odisha, India to supply various industrial partners “located mainly in Japan.”

The currently under development Odisha ammonia project plans to produce almost 1.3 mtpa of green ammonia once fully built.
