India’s ‘first’ hydrogen ICE-powered truck unveiled

Automotive manufacturer Ashok Leyland and multinational Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) have unveiled India’s ‘first’ heavy-duty truck with hydrogen internal combustion engine (ICE) technology.

Revealed in Bangalore on Monday (February 6) during India Energy Week, H2 View understands the truck has been under development for over the year, with testing having been carried out since August 2022.

The hydrogen ICE-powered truck maintains a similar overall architecture of that to a conventional diesel-fuelled combustion engine, which the companies says helps a quicker migration to cleaner energy sources at a lower cost.
