Infrastructure and investment needs put green hydrogen at high risk reports McKinsey

Green hydrogen faces high risks mainly due to infrastructure needs and investments required to achieve large-scale deployment, according to McKinsey’s Global Energy Perspective 2023.

To deliver on the steep climate commitments globally, substantial pivots are needed across industries and geographies.

Despite significant reductions in carbon emissions, all modelled scenarios remain above the 1.5° pathway and result in warming of between 1.6° and 2.9°C, the report states.
