Investment, vision, and development: UK Hydrogen Champion report calls on government and industry action

Kickstart investment, provide a clear vision, drive rapid development, create a plan for integrated energy infrastructure, and provide an integrated plan for implementation are the main recommendations from the UK Hydrogen Champion to government and industry.

A report published today (March 22) by Jane Toogood, Chief Executive of Catalyst Technologies at Johnson Matthey, Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Advisory Board and UK Hydrogen Champion, has urged the UK Government for further action to deliver on its hydrogen and Net Zero ambitions.

Noting that the UK Government showed “early policy leadership” with the unveiling of its Hydrogen Strategy in August 2021, Toogood’s report read, “Other countries have also mobilised to realise the opportunities presented by hydrogen. In the US, recent legislation provides very significant government subsidies for low carbon hydrogen production, which risks drawing investment away from the UK.”
