Itochu to support A$1bn Gladstone hydrogen project

Australian Future Energy (AFE) has revealed a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) today (June 21) with Japanese trading company Itochu that will see the group support the A$1bn ($751m) Gladstone hydrogen project.

The Gladstone Energy and Ammonia Project (GEAP) has been recognised as Australia’s largest and most advanced clean hydrogen production project, the company said, and is now close to commencing its Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study.

This study will focus on the commercial production of low carbon energy alternatives as soon as 2024.
