Japan’s Toppan plans to enter hydrogen market with CCM and MEA mass-production

Japanese-based Toppan on Thursday (August 17) announced plans to enter the hydrogen market after installing production equipment for catalyst coated membranes (CCM) and membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) at its Kochi plant.

The new equipment is set to allow Toppan to mass-produce sheet-type CCMs and MEAs by leveraging the company’s manufacturing technologies such as base sheet transfer and uniform coating on large surfaces.

Coming as a core component in water electrolysers for hydrogen production, Toppan aims to help boost hydrogen adoption by rolling out its CCMs and MEAs.
