John Cockerill Hydrogen announces US expansion with Houston electrolyser gigafactory

John Cockerill Hydrogen has announced its US entry after the acquisition of manufacturing space in Baytown for a new electrolyser Gigafactory.

Its US expansion is expected to produce 1GW of electrolysers annually to serve the North American market from Houston and provide a domestic supply chain, local customer support, and green hydrogen production equipment.

The company will use existing buildings retrofitted with new equipment and leverage on its experience through its other plants in Europe and China, with production anticipated for Q3 2024 and amongst the first operation alkaline manufacturing facilities of this size in the US.
