KeHE Distributors will power its Northern California facility with fuel cell technology from Bloom Energy Servers as the food distributor looks to reduce its carbon footprint.
The switch to fuel cells will cut the facility’s carbon dioxide emissions by 431 metric tonnes, KeHE said.
The fuel cells will also help reduce smog-forming pollution and particulate matter by more than 99%, the company added.
The 600-kilowatt Bloom Energy Servers will utilise fuel cell technology to produce energy using an electrochemical process, providing emissions reduction, cost savings benefits, a higher level of reliability and resiliency.
