Mabanaft and Hapag-Lloyd to evaluate supply of clean ammonia as bunker fuel in Germany and US

Mabanaft and German international shipping company Hapag-Lloyd are set to evaluate options for supplying clean ammonia as a bunker fuel in and around the Port of Hamburg, Germany and the Port of Houston, Texas, US.

Under a signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the companies initially plan to assess the viability of and the options for the safe handling of clean ammonia as a bunker fuel in and around the Port of Hamburg.

H2 View understands the partners will look to evaluate the commercial, technical, and regulatory requirements and engage with all relevant stakeholders. In a second step, Mabanaft and Hapag-Lloyd will conduct a similar assessment for the Port of Houston.
