MAN Cryo to design hydrogen supply systems for two Norwegian ferries

Norwegian ferry firm Torghatten Nord has contracted MAN Cryo to design hydrogen supply systems for its two new-build hydrogen-powered ferries.

117 metres in length, capable of carrying 120 cars and 599 passengers, the ferries are set to be installed with 6.4MW of hydrogen fuel cells to power operations on the outer Vestjorden in Lofoten.

MAN Cryo, part of MAN Energy Solutions, will provide design for bunkering systems, hydrogen piping and vent masts for the ferries, while also acting as a system integrator for the hydrogen process plant.
