Mattiq targets hydrogen solutions roll out within 18 months

Materials science-come-AI company Mattiq expects to roll out hydrogen and iridium alternative solutions within the next year to 18 months.

Speaking exclusively to H2 View, CEO Jeff Erhardt said, “We have good candidates and understanding today – and what we’re now working on is how do we scale those and match the industrial reliability that’s required, and understand what we do compares with the field testing that’s been done for the past several decades.”

Mattiq, spun out from Northwestern University in late 2021, believes its holistic approach gives it an all-encompassing position – enabling it tackle not only industrial electrification but also novel optical materials, ceramics, batteries and superconductors, providing decarbonisation solutions across the hard-to-abate spectrum.

The prize is huge, given chemicals and fuel production account for around 6.5% of global carbon emissions – and at a time when the world can’t get enough of AI.
