Confirming stable combustion, the test used an altered KU Series gas engine cogeneration system – a widely used system in a variety of industries – to reduce the carbon emissions while maintaining output.

Having combatted issues such as engine knocking caused by hydrogen’s faster flame propagation and preignition combustion, the MHIET team has said the cogeneration system with the original 5.75MW engine would generate the same performance.
