More hydrogen bus deployments planned for UK cities

50 new hydrogen-powered buses will soon be deployed across a number of UK cities, including Birmingham, Aberdeen, London and Belfast.

The news was today (9th March) confirmed as Ballard Power Systems said it has received an order from bus manufacturer Wrightbus for 50 fuel cell modules to power the vehicles.

According to a statement, the buses will be partially funded under the JIVE (Joint Initiative For Hydrogen Vehicles Across Europe) program.

Commenting on the order, Rob Campbell, Ballard’s Chief Commercial Operator, said, “The orders announced today from Wrightbus for 50 fuel cell modules, in combination with the 50 modules noted in June 2020, underpins the value we place on our long-standing partnership with Wrightbus.”
