More than $3bn of renewable hydrogen projects vying for ARENA funding

ARENA today announced it has received 36 expressions of interest (EOI) for a $70m funding round that opened in April to help fast track the development of renewable hydrogen in Australia.

The Renewable Hydrogen Deployment Funding Round aims to drive down the cost of producing renewable hydrogen through commercial scale electrolyser projects.

With a goal of bringing the cost of green hydrogen production under $2 per kilogram, projects seeking funding must deploy electrolysers with a minimum of 5MW capacity and preference for 10MW or more.

Collectively the 36 applications received have more than 500MW of electrolysis capacity, with the size of projects ranging from 5MW to nearly 80MW.
