New Zealand airport trials hydrogen generator for electric ground vehicles

A hydrogen fuel cell power generator is being used to charge Air New Zealand’s electric ground vehicles at Wellington Airport in New Zealand.

Coming as a joint effort between Air New Zealand, Wellington Airport, Toyota New Zealand and Hiringa Energy, the trial is aimed at assessing the viability of hydrogen for charging and could potentially pave the way for the fuelling of future aircraft.

The EODev hydrogen generator system has been provided by Toyota New Zealand, with hydrogen supplied by Hiringa Energy.
