NextChem Tech adopts Vallourec’s Delphy for hydrogen and ammonia storage

NextChem Tech will integrate Vallourec’s hydrogen storage solution into green hydrogen and ammonia projects it’s participating in as a technology provider.

The NEXTCHEM (Maire Tecnimont) subsidiary dedicated to decarbonisation technologies will use Vallourec’s Delphy solution – capable of storing up to 100 tonnes of gaseous hydrogen.

The system can combine the optimised operation of green hydrogen production facilities with the security of supply. H2 View understands that Delphy can be customised for various design phases, with more space available for the further expansion of a project.

The agreement with NextChem Tech confirms the “relevance” of the Delphy solution, according to Philippe Guillemot, Vallourec’s Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO, “particularly for the industrial use of hydrogen,” he added.

Mohammed Nafid, CEO of NextChem Tech, said, “The integration of Delphy hydrogen storage technology is an essential building block allowing our green ammonia production process to better cope with intermittent renewable power.

“Our technology portfolio in the energy transition and hydrogen space is adding one more key tool that would significantly strengthen our offer in this space.”
