Northern Ireland Water to implement 1MW membrane-less electrolyser for hydrogen production

Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) has revealed today (June 15) that Northern Ireland Water will use its unique membrane-free electrolyser as part of its decarbonisation strategy using hydrogen technology.

The LaganMEICA JV project will implement the 1MW membrane-free electrolyser to improve efficiency in the treatment of wastewater at NI Water’s plant in Belfast.

The CPH2 membrane-free electrolyser is currently in development in Doncaster and is expected to be installed in Belfast by September 2021 and will produce up to 451kg of hydrogen and 3609kg of medical-grade oxygen per day.
