The New South Wales (NSW) state Government in Australia announced on Wednesday (May 25), that the first trial of a hydrogen-powered electric bus will commence on the Central Coast later this year.
It comes after NSW released its hydrogen strategy in October 2021, with ambitions of hydrogen vehicles making up 20% of the NSW Government heavy vehicle fleet, with a total of 10,000 hydrogen-powered vehicles taking to the roads by 2030.
The project is a partnership between the Department of Planning and Environment, local bus manufacturer ARCC, Central Coast operator Red Bus, and Origin Energy, which hopes to understand how the technology could be rollout state-wide.
