Nuvera Fuel Cells has developed a hydrogen-powered mobile power generator which is set to be unveiled at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, US.
The hydrogen genset and rapid charger was manufactured in collaboration with Power Innovations International and will be suitable for on-site power and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Boasting a level 3 DC fast charger, it can recharge EVs with up to 30kW output to locations with no or limited grid power access, including warehouses and parking lots. It also has low operating noise, making it suitable for movie sets and concerts.
H2 View understands additional units are planned for development this year and the company will look to explore “exciting new applications” as the product reaches the market, according to Mike Basile, Nuvera’s North America Sales and Business Development Leader.
“There is a natural fit for our fuel cell technology as a solution to meet the growing demand for clean on-site power and grid-independent EV charging,” he added.
Last year (2023), the company launched its fuel cell stationary power generator, available in 360kW and 470kW units, which also operates on hydrogen.

Regarding the mobile power generator, Edward Carter, Power Innovations’ President, said, “We’ve created a product that’s clean and quiet while offering the high efficiency of Nuvera’s fuel cell engines for improved electrical efficiency and high-quality power.”
The solution will be displayed at the ACT Expo, which is taking place May 20-23, 2024.
