Oman green hydrogen project given the green light

Plans for a green hydrogen and ammonia project in Duqm, Oman have been given the green light.

The Public Authority for Special Economic Zone and Free Zones (OPAZ) today (Sep 27) inked a land reservation agreement for the 1.3MW project that will consist of both an onshore wind and solar farm.

As a result of the signed agreement, the project, led by Hyport Duqm Company, will now be established in a part of land which already houses other renewable energy projects as part of a commitment to meet Oman’s decarbonisation targets.

Commenting on the land agreement, Ahmed bin Hassan Al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of OPAZ, said, “OPAZ welcomes this project in the Special Economic Zones at Duqm.
