OQGN sets out hydrogen value chain in Oman

OQGN, the exclusive owner and operator of the natural gas transmission network in Oman, has been setting out its vision for a hydrogen value chain at the Oman Green Hydrogen Summit this week.

It believes the value chain can be ’empowered and enabled’ by a hydrogen common use infrastructure, providing economies of scale, storage potential and ‘single point accountability’.

Its stand displayed visuals showing how green hydrogen production across its four blocks can connect to its transmission and distribution network, and in turn connect to derivatives synthesis, terminals and storage, ahead of being exported. As of 2022, OQGN’s pipeline network stands at 4,031km.

A strategic partnership between OQGN and hydrom, which is ‘orchestrating’ hydrogen development in the Sultanate, aims to create ‘pioneering’ hydrogen infrastructure in the two key areas of Duqm and Salalah.
