Phelan Green Energy’s $2.5bn project granted SIP status

The South African Government has granted Phelan Green Energy’s hydrogen project coveted Strategic Integrated Project (SIP) status.

The SIP legislation aims to accelerate the development of vital infrastructure to advance South Africa’s green hydrogen targets.

Phelan Green Hydrogen has plans to invest R47bn ($2.5bn) to create the country’s largest green hydrogen project in Saldanha, Western Cape, which is expected to produce 85,000 metric tonnes per year of green hydrogen and derivatives.
